Why do people put ashes on their forehead today?

  1. Today, my Action Group (bible study) leader told us a kind of long reason. i'll try to shorten it, and I may not get it 100% correct.

Basically, a long time ago, people would burn in somewhat of a stove as a form of heat. They would typically clean themselves up, but then anytime they would be in mourning, they wouldn't have time to; they would be so busy they would just forget about it. And that's what today is about- people being so busy with God, they don't think about anything else.

That's just one thing I've heard~which I guess is what they talked about in church this morning.

  2. That's a good question! I know that it's for Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, but I'm not sure what the significance of the Ash is. I'll get back to you on that.

  3. What does Hong Kong mean? What do you miss most besides your family?

  4. The ashes are used as a symbol to mark the beginning of lent, and they're supposed to remind Catholics to remain humble during lent & easter.
